RDA KEMPSEY NSW

Riding for the Disabled Kempsey NSW branch

OPEN DAY HELD NOVEMBER 2008

A VERY SUCCESSFUL DAY WITH ATTENDANCE BY MANY BUSINESS HOUSES

KEMPSEY - SOUTH WEST ROCKS - CRESCENT HEAD

On Tuesday 18th November 2008 Kempsey Macleay Riding for Disabled Centre held an Open Day.  Invitations were sent out to the Families of our Riders and Local Businesses, many of whom have graciously supported us over the past 3 years.

The Day started with optimism that the weather was going to hold out, but rain, hail or shine all our volunteers were going to see this Open Day happen.  To our great delight we had a wonderful number of people attend, some who had never been or seen what happens at RDA.  Some people who only had 20 minutes to spare ended up staying close to an hour.

Each of our lessons on the day had a special event to show our visitors.  Riders showed how they have progressed over the year with their riding and listening skills with exercises that really aid in their balance, co-ordination and to the great level of physiotherapy each rider receives by the movement of our horses.  Two of our riders conducted an off the lead barrel race, riders maneuvered their horses in a set pattern around three barrels and then a trot home with some assistance by our Coach, Chereyll Beard.  We even had riders and horses do the Macarena to music on horse back, smiles were had by all.

We would like to thank all those who gave us their time to put this Open Day together and especially to those able to come along and see the great benefits that Horse Riding provides these very special members of our community.

RDA has finished for the year but we will be back better and stronger next year.  If you or someone you know has time on a Tuesday to come along and give a hand, volunteers are welcome.  Please check our website for details and dates for riding in 2009 www.rdakempseynsw.com.au
