CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS
We are now a FULLY ACCREDITED RDA centre . The only centre in NSW, to bypass provisional status and be granted full membership. This only happened because of the wonderful support and dedication of all our volunteers ....MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU.
We would also like to make it generally known that we, the Riding for the Disabled Association (NSW), Kempsey-Macleay Centre is the only registered and accredited riding centre with RDA (NSW) in the Macleay District.
Our riding days have been filled with new games and circuits for the riders and horses to experience. It is such a pleasure to look back over the past year and really see what a wonderful improvement ALL of our riders have made. Our new younger riders are coming along in leaps and bounds. Communication between the volunteers and riders is amazing to watch and most of all the smiles had by all involved in our riding days.
If you have 10mins or 2 hours to spare on a Tuesday it is worth our while to wander down to the undercover arena at Kempsey Showground and see what RDA is really about. You may even be able to become a volunteer and really make a difference in a childs life or maybe even your own.
KUNDABUNG RODEO 2007This years Rodeo was held on Sunday 30th September 2007. No horse events this year due to the Equine Influenza, so we didn't get to see our Coach Cathy blitz it in the Barrel Race again.
Thanks to John Scott for making it possible for us to hold a Raffle at the front gate with the money raised going to the continuing care of our horses.
* THANK YOU TO OUR PRIZE DONATIONS *
First Prize - Neds Horse O'Tel a Gift Certificate for a Weekend for 2 at their pet friendly holiday farm. You can see more about them by visting their website www.nedsbed.com
Second Prize - Kempsey West Bottle Shop for their $50 Gift Certificate for the bottle shop.
Prizes were both drawn on the day and the winners excited with their winnings. The day was hot but thanks to loan of a shade gazebo and helping hands of some visitors to set it up we were able to keep out of the sun and also have a good view of the arena and the excitement within.
Thank you to Terri, Marie, Cathy, Harold and Sharon for their assistance on the day.
Dragging yourself out of bed at 4.30 on a very chilly Kempsey morning seemed all worth it for the dozen or so RDA volunteers when the Natureland Classic Motorcycle Club handed over a cheque for $1500.
They needed someone to man the front gate and to help out at the barbeque. The morning proved to be an enjoyable one, many laughs were had trying to squeeze the last dollar out of the poor unsuspecting Bikers who really only came to buy that illusive part at the well attended Swap Meet. Some were even persuaded to pay on the way in and on the way out, amidst gales of laughter.
Our RDA display stand and garage sale raised an amazing $65, in small change. Anything that didn’t sell was donated to the RSPCA for their garage sale.
The $1500 will be used to sponsor our treasured pony, Scottie, for a whole year. Scottie was donated to us by John Scott of Kundabung Stables. He’s a solid, strong looking pony with a heart of gold just like the wonderful Motorcycle Club members.
