OPEN DAY FOR HELPERS 2006

Please note : Some horses pictured may have retired due to health reasons !

On February 7th 2006 an open day was held by the RDA Kempsey-Macleay NSW Centre. This was a fantastic successful day & helpers were shown what is involved in becoming a volunteer with the centre. The volunteers who devote their time to this cause can make the world of difference  Your time to us is precious !!!!!

The horses were put through their assessment on the day , from tests out on the open arena , then into the covered arena for the saddling & so on .

A very successful orientation day at the Showground, with Margaret Norman, Pres of RDA NSW, Jackie Laing, Regional Rep and head coach of Kendall RDA, Maureen Turner, the Assessor for RDA NSW, and coaches and volunteers from Coffs, Wauchope, Kendall and Taree RDA Centres. But the best part was the attendance of all the local “to-be” Kempsey-Macleay volunteers, who showed their keenness to learn all about RDA. . If you attended, you have earned yourself a certificate, which you can pick up at the next training day, see below.

The day was run by Jackie and assisted by Margaret, Maureen and the coaches from the other RDA centres and was for coaches and volunteers and consisted of correct fitting of helmets and boots, mounting and dismounting, assessment of the horses, tack and arena, correct procedures during the riding lesson, the roles of the coach and the helpers. The day was most successful, as the horses all passed inspection. With only a few items yet to be addressed, we are drawing closer to a starting date.

Once we have established a regular group of riding horses I will do a horse profile page !
